If you’ve lived in San Francisco for more than 10 years, you’ve likely heard of Hahn’s Hibachi. Maybe you’ve actually had one of their giant Meat Mountains or the more-than-generous Bibimbap. If so, then you’ll have an idea why Sugar Lounge is a go-to for more-than-ordinary cocktails.
In early 2004, the owners of Hahn’s Hibachi purchased the wine bar, Hayes on Vine, with an idea to create a neighborhood bar that served unique and high quality cocktails as well as the classics.
In late 2004, Sugar Lounge opened its doors and Hayes Valley hasn’t been the same since. With the always interesting signature cocktails and traditional favorites served in a tasteful and casual setting, it’s a place where you can find a great drink and feel so comfortable you might stay longer than originally intended ;).
As important as the quality of the cocktails, was their value. Sugar Lounge doesn’t charge an arm and a leg for high quality drinks, because neighborhood bars don’t do that. Our goal has always been to deliver great value and create a comfortable and cool spot where people wanted to lounge. Sugar Lounge is a mainstay in Hayes Valley, and in San Francisco because of this.
The owners have spent a lot of time in Hawaii, Samoa, and the Philippines, where they developed a great appreciation and love for those cultures. The relaxed attitudes, celebration of a good time, and the incredible flavors are what Sugar Lounge was designed to embody.
